The Richmond Tigers came back to draw with rivals Carlton in front of 88,084 people.
Richmond kicked a goal only 35 seconds in, through Dustin Martin, before Zac Fisher responded almost immediately after.
From there on, it was an arm wrestle all game. Accuracy was missing for both sides, with both teams ending with eight goals and ten behind. The Blues led at half time by fourteen points, but the Tigers clawed back during the third quarter thanks to two goals from Maurice Rioli.
The Blues had all the momentum in the fourth as Sam Docherty gave Carlton the lead back and Charlie Curnow extended it, but Tom Lynch had one more trick up his sleeve. Lynch took a huge mark and tied the game up with his third goal, with only fifteen seconds of the game left, and it would end as the third draw between the two teams, and the first since 1972.
The Blues will now welcome Geelong to the MCG next Thursday, while Richmond will travel up to Adelaide to take on the Crows in nine days.
