It's been 1070 long days, but the UEFA Men's Euros is finally back.

To kick it off, we had a strong German side, who are hosting the tournament, against a plucky underdog Scottish team, daring to dream after an impressive qualifying group.

Their dreams almost shattered instantly, as Florian Wirtz closed down on the Scottish goal inside the first minute, but his strike was saved by Angus Gunn.

Both men would be involved again nine minutes later, as Gunn parried what should have been a comfortable save off the inside of his post and in the goal, making Wirtz the youngest player to score the first goal of the tournament in Euros history.

Things went from bad to worse for Scotland as Jamal Musiala scored in the nineteenth minute with a powerful strike, doubling the hosts advantage.

From there on, the Scottish defense looked panicked, opting to boot the ball away instead of playing out from the back and committing reckless tackles. They nearly paid the price as Musiala went down and referee Clement Turpin gave the Germans a penalty, however VAR overruled it and gave a free kick instead.

But VAR couldn't save Scotland twenty minutes when Ryan Porteous carelessly went in and fouled Ilkay Gundogan, giving Germany a penalty. Porteous was sent off and Kai Havertz scored the spot kick right before half time, as Germany led 3-0 at the break.

Niclas Füllkrug came on a substitute in the second half and instantly took his chance, making it 4-0 with a lethal finish. He even temporily made it 5-0, but it was ruled out for offside.

The Scots gave their fans something to cheer about late on, as Scott McKenna's shot was deflected by Antonio Rudiger and ended up in the net. It was marked down as an own goal for the Real Madrid defender, and the Tartan Army found the humor in the situation, chanting "you're not singing anymore" at the home fans.

Emre Can, who wasn't even in the squad on Tuesday, did manage to get those fans singing again as he scored a long range goal with practically the last kick of the game, confirming a 5-1 win for Germany. The Germans will have a lot to be excited about in their next game against Hungary, while Scotland will look to get their EURO campaign back on track against Switzerland.

Despite a fairly one-sided match, both sets of fans were brilliant all night long, both inside and outside of the stadium, as German and Scottish fans could be seen singing with each other pre game. Scotland took over Germany in the build up to the match, singing their new unofficial anthem, "No Scotland, No Party" by Nick Morgan.

In the song Morgan sings that "even if we don't win, we'll boogie on in Berlin". That may be true, but it's going to take a lot of boogieing to forget about tonight's match.
