It was a cool night in south-east Melbourne as eighth place Oakleigh Cannons came to town to play fifth place Dandenong City.

It was a perfect start for the home side, who's long ball tactic paid off. Will Power got on the end of a ball over the top and poked it home to make it 1-0.

Nonetheless, Dandenong recovered, and scored to make it 1-1 off a cross, with Alex Salmon finishing off a cross in the 21st minute

It was all the goals the fans would see for the rest of the game, but not without good chances.

Oakleigh were the better side in the second half, as they kept possession and created chances, but poor finishing let them down.

Despite Dandenong's long ball tactic not working as well come the second half, they would have the last chance of the game as Kyan Vanderharst-Bryant was brought down outside the box. The home fans at Frank Holohan Soccer Complex were certain they had been granted a last minute penalty, but it was only a free kick. This free kick led to nothing, and the game ended 1-1, a fair result for both sides.

Dandenong City play Knights away next week, while Oakleigh will welcome Dandenong Thunder to Jack Edwards Reserve.
